What does the mention tracker find?
Every public post that names your domain, links to it, or uses one of your tracked terms as a whole word, on the four sources. The domain matches when it is written out or when any link in the post points at it, including subdomains; other terms match case-insensitively but never inside another word, so "acme" does not match "acmecorp".
- X. Recent search through the X API, with reposts left out. Each post arrives with the author's name, handle, follower count and picture, plus likes, reposts, replies and views. X charges per post read, so each plan includes a monthly number of reads per workspace; when they are used up, X pauses until the first of the next month and the other sources carry on.
- Hacker News. Stories and comments through Algolia's public search, with points and comment counts.
- Bluesky. Public posts, newest first, with the author's follower count from their profile.
Each post is stored once and refreshed with its latest engagement on every sweep, so a post that took off since you first saw it shows its current numbers. Up to 5,000 posts are kept per site; the oldest go first.
How does the inbox work?
New posts land in the inbox. Star the ones that matter, mark the ones you have answered, hide the rest or mute an author whose posts are never useful. A trend chart shows mentions per day by source, and a list of the loudest voices shows who talks about you most and to how many people.
The inbox is a queue, not an archive. The count on the tab is the number of posts nobody has dealt with yet, and the page updates by itself while a search runs. Filters narrow it by source, by tracked term, or by any text in the post or the author's name, and the period switch covers the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
Muting an author moves their existing posts to the muted view and sends their future posts straight there. Everything can be undone from the settings dialog on the page.
Can it alert me when someone with a big following posts?
Yes. A mention alert has a reach floor and a choice of sources, and goes to email, Slack, Discord or a signed webhook, the same channels every other Statsy alert uses. A floor of 10,000 means you hear about the post from an account with 52,000 followers and not the one with 30.
Reach means followers on X and Bluesky and points on Hacker News. One notice goes out per sweep, listing the new posts that cleared the floor with the author, their reach, a snippet and the link, and at most one notice an hour per site so a busy morning does not become a flood.

How does a mention connect to revenue?
X wraps every link in a post in its own t.co short code. Statsy sees that code as the referrer on the visits it sends, so a post on X that links to your site shows the visitors, sign-ups and revenue it produced, next to its likes and reposts.
This is the part a standalone mention tool cannot do, because it never sees your traffic or your payments. Hacker News and Bluesky do not rewrite links, so their posts show engagement but not a per-post revenue figure; their visits are counted under the referrer as usual.
How does this compare with Grow or Die, Mention and Brand24?

What does Statsy do with the X account?
Nothing on your behalf. Searches on X run through Statsy's own X API access, so you never hand over a login. Where a server has no X API token, a workspace can connect its own X login instead; it is stored encrypted, used only to run a search, and never posts, follows or likes.
Hacker News and Bluesky are searched through their public interfaces. The posts Statsy stores are public posts; Statsy keeps the text, the author's public name and handle, and the engagement counts, and deletes them with the site.
Questions about mention tracking
Which terms should I track?
Your brand name, your product name if it differs, your X handle, and the one or two competitors people compare you with. The domain is always tracked and does not count against the limit. Terms match whole words only.
Why does X show fewer mentions than the other sources?
X's recent search covers the last week and is metered per post read. Each sweep reads at most 100 posts, and the plan includes a monthly number of reads per workspace. When that number is reached, X pauses until the first of the next month; the other three sources are not metered.
Does it find mentions from before I started tracking?
The first sweep looks back 30 days on Hacker News and Bluesky and about a week on X, which is as far as its recent search reaches.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes. The checker at the top of this page searches Hacker News and Bluesky for any domain and shows what it finds, without storing anything. X, tracked terms, alerts and the revenue tie need a workspace.
Does Statsy reply or post for me?
No. Every post links out to the source, and you reply there. Statsy only records that you marked it as replied.
