Emails

Verification links, invitations, alerts and reports that never arrive, and what to check before asking for a resend.

Statsy sends a small set of emails: account ones such as verification, password reset and magic links; team invitations; alert notices; and scheduled reports and the weekly digest.

Check these first

  • Spam and promotions folders. Verification and invite mail lands there most often.
  • The exact address, including a typo in the domain. Account mail goes only to the address on the account.
  • A corporate filter. Ask an administrator whether mail from our sending domain is quarantined.
  • Give it a minute. Delivery is usually seconds but a queue can add a little.

Confirmation and sign-in links

After signing up you land on a screen with a Send the link again button. It can be used once per visit; reload the page if you need another. A confirmation link works for 24 hours. Asking too often is rate limited and says so.

Team invitations

An invitation expires after seven days. There is no resend button: invite the same address again and a fresh email goes out. Note that doing so invalidates the earlier link, so if the first one does eventually turn up it will no longer work.

The invitation must be accepted by someone signed in with that exact address. See Team and roles.

Alert emails

If an alert never fires, test it first: each alert has a test send that goes to every channel immediately and shows exactly what happened for each one, including the error if a delivery failed. That separates “the rule never matched” from “the email never arrived”.

Reasons a rule stays quiet even when something happened:

  • An alert of the same kind already fired for that site within the hour. Each kind is limited to one notice an hour.
  • Percentage alerts need a baseline to compare against, so a very quiet site does not trigger them.
  • The rule is switched off, or its threshold and window are wider than you remember.
  • Checks run every few minutes, so a short spike may be over before the next one.

An alert can send to at most ten email addresses, and a rule can have at most ten channels in total.

Reports and the digest

Scheduled reports are weekly or monthly — there is no daily one. They only go out when the report has at least one recipient, so an empty recipient list is the usual reason for silence. Check the list in the site’s report settings.

Self-hosted installs

If no email of any kind arrives on a self-hosted install, the mail server is almost certainly not configured. Without it the message is written to the API log instead of being sent, prefixed to say SMTP is not configured. An administrator should set the SMTP settings and restart the API.

Still nothing? Email support@statsy.co from another address and tell us which email you were expecting.
